Instructions for Facilitators

Each of the weekly modules in this course contains a short video featuring scholars of the text, a study guide, and discussion questions. Certain modules also feature additional resources for further study.

Below is the schedule for which portions of the text are being studied in a given week, occasionally including optional reading when relevant. In addition to reviewing the recommended scripture, you should review the “Questions for Discussion” section each week in order to help facilitate group discussion.

Week 1 – Who Was Daniel?

1. Prepare for the session by reflecting on what you know about the character of Daniel from both the book of Daniel and other extrabiblical sources.
2. Optional: Review Daniel chapters 1-6.

Week 2 – Dream Interpretation

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapters 1 and 2.
2. Optional Read 2 Kings 24 and 2 Chronicles 36.
3. Optional Read Genesis 41.

Week 3 – Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel’s Friends

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapters 3 and 6.

Week 4 – Confronting the Gentile Kings

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapters 4 and 5.

Week 5 – The Apocalyptic Genre

1. Prepare for the session by reviewing Daniel chapters 7-12.
2. Optional: Review Revelation.
3. Optional: Review Enoch.

Week 6 – Daniel the Dreamer

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapter 7.

Week 7 – More Dreams and a Prayer

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapters 8 and 9.
2. Optional: Read Isaiah 14.
3. Optional: Read Jeremiah 25:11 and 29:10.

Week 8 – A Vision of an Angel

1. Prepare for the session by reading Daniel chapters 10-12
