Instructions for Facilitators

Each of the weekly modules in this course contains a short video featuring scholars of the text, a study guide, and discussion questions. Certain modules also feature additional resources for further study.

Below is the schedule for which portions of the text are being studied in a given week, occasionally including optional reading when relevant. In addition to reviewing the recommended scripture, you should review the “Questions for Discussion” section each week in order to help facilitate group discussion.

Week 1 – The Church Begins in Jerusalem

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts 1-4.
2. Optional: Review the Gospel of Luke 1:1-4 and 22.
3. Optional: Read Joel 2:28-32.

Week 2 – Community and Mission

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts chapters 5-8.

Week 3 – Gentiles Join the Movement

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts 9-12.
2. Optional: Read Galatians 1:13-17.

Week 4 – Holding the Church Together

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts 13-15.
2. Optional: Read Isaiah 49:6.
3. Optional: Read Galatians 2:1-10.

Week 5 – “Apologetic” Ministry

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts chapters 16 and 17.

Week 6 – Cooperative Ministry

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts chapters 18-20.

Week 7 – Defense of the Gospel

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts chapters 21-23.
2. Optional: Read 1 Corinthian 15.
3. Optional: Read James.

Week 8 – The Gospel, The Romans, The Jews

1. Prepare for the session by reading Acts chapters 24-28.
