Instructions for Facilitators

Each of the weekly modules in this course contains a short video featuring scholars of the text, a study guide, and discussion questions. Certain modules also feature additional resources for further study.

Below is the schedule for which portions of the text are being studied in a given week, occasionally including optional reading when relevant. In addition to reviewing the recommended scripture, you should review the “Questions for Discussion” section each week in order to help facilitate group discussion.

Week 1 – Divisions at Corinth

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 1 and 2.
2. Review the “Introduction to the Course.”

Week 2 – Paul and Apollos

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 3 and 4.
2. Optional: Read Acts 18:24-25.

Week 3 – Sex and the Courts

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 5 and 6.

Week 4 – Marriage and Slavery

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapter 7.
2. Optional: Review Mark 10:1-12 and Matthew 19:1-12 on divorce.

Week 5 – From Flesh to Spirit

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 8-10.

Week 6 – The Lord’s Supper

1. Prepare or the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapter 11.

Week 7 – Glossolalia

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14.

Week 8 – The Meaning of Resurrection

1. Prepare for the session by reading 1 Corinthians chapters 15 and 16.
