I'm using the Genesis Bible study by Drs. Baden and Collins. Does Genesis 3.8 not imply the idea of sin and guilt - coming from a breaking of a special relationship with the Creator?

I'm reading your question a year later, and I agree that the implication in Genesis 3:8 is that their action of hiding is based on a perception of fear and guilt. Adam and Eve "knew" they disobeyed and were attempting to evade God by hiding, just like mischievous children.
