Does this letter add anything to the picture of Paul we get from his other letters? Does it change our view of him in any way?
Paul’s letters are among the most read and studied parts of scripture, but we cannot now see him as having authority on the subject of slavery. How do we handle the challenge to the authority of scripture when we encounter a New Testament writer teaching something we do not believe can be right?
