This eight-session study explores the great collection of Hebrew poetry. The Psalms expresses the widest range of human emotions: from anguish to joy, from need to thanksgiving. There is truly a psalm “for every occasion”: from hymns to prayers to songs to celebrations to laments. Unlike almost every other part of the Bible, the Psalms make no claim to divine revelation: they are explicitly humanity’s attempt to communicate with God, not God’s direction to humanity.
In this study, the full range of the Psalms will be explored: their poetry, history, their use, and the development of this most beloved biblical collection.
